Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is expected to enter the White House once again with a historic victory in this presidential election.
It was expected that it would be a fierce battle with Democratic candidate Kamala Harris, but overnight vote counting showed that Trump secured enough votes to confirm his victory.
Trump is the first former president to be re-elected after failing to be re-elected in over 130 years, and at the age of 78, he is expected to become the oldest elected president in history.
When will the election results be confirmed?
Although leaders of various countries, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, have already congratulated Trump on his election, the results of the presidential election have not yet been officially confirmed.
Previously, concerns were raised that it may be difficult to easily know the results as very close races unfold in some ‘competition’ states.
However, with victory confirmed in traditionally strong Republican states, and results coming out earlier than expected in North Carolina, Georgia, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, Trump has secured 270 electoral votes to ensure victory.
CBS News, the BBC’s local partner in the United States, predicted Trump as the final elected president at 5:30 a.m. (EST) on the 6th, just the day after the election.
However, it may take days or weeks for each state’s specific election results to be officially announced.
Is Trump President Now?
no. Trump is now president-elect, and his running mate, JD Vance, is vice president-elect.
Trump will be sworn in at the presidential inauguration ceremony on Monday, January 20th next year, and from this moment on, he will legally assume the authority and responsibility that comes with the office of president.
What are the scheduled procedures between Election Day and Inauguration Day?
Once all valid votes are counted in the final results, the election results are confirmed through the Electoral College system.
The number of electoral votes assigned to each state is different, and then they vote. Ultimately, one must gain not only the support of voters but also their support in order to be elected to the presidency.
Typically, each state gives all of its electoral votes to the candidate who ranks first in the popular vote. Then, the electoral college gathers in each state and votes.
Then, on January 6th of next year, the U.S. Congress will hold a joint session of the Senate and House of Representatives and count the votes of the Electoral College to officially confirm the next president.
In the past, when Trump refused to acknowledge his defeat against candidate Biden, Trump supporters tried to march to the Capitol, and the event they were trying to block was the Congressional meeting to officially certify the election results.

What will the president and vice president-elect do?
President-elect Trump and Vice President-elect Vance will work with the transition team to take over from the current Biden administration.
The transition team will identify policy priorities, vet key personnel candidates for the new administration, and prepare to take over government roles.
Additionally, Trump and key officials will begin receiving classified national security information covering current threats and ongoing military operations.
The President-elect and Vice President-elect are subject to mandatory protection by the U.S. Secret Service.
Meanwhile, the incumbent president usually invites the incoming president to the White House after Election Day.
He also attends the inauguration ceremony of the successor president as a symbol of the peaceful transfer of power, but Trump did not attend Biden’s inauguration ceremony in 2020.
However, following the tradition started by President Ronald Reagan, he left a handwritten note for his successor in the Oval Office.
At the time, President Biden told reporters that his predecessor left a “very generous letter.”
After the inauguration ceremony, the new president will begin work immediately.
