the essential CDEN: four letters which say a lot about the expectations of both the teaching staff and the parents of students for the allocation of positions, the openings and closings of classes in the Lot, as well as educational groupings. This Departmental National Education Committee will be held on Monday. On behalf of Unsa Education du Lot, Christine Laverdet presents the challenges and hopes of this 2024 version of the school map and does not rule out any hypothesis.
Let’s start with the celebrations. The first preparatory meeting for the start of the 2024 school year, in schools, suggests “a start to the school year marked by a slight drop in enrollment: less 48 students. On the other hand, the allocation of the department remains identical to that of this year. in other words, there will be no withdrawal of positions” underlines Christine Laverdet under the banner of Unsa Education.
According to the first factual elements, the school administration is however considering closing a class at the Souillac elementary school.
In this particular case, before developing its analysis, the SE-Unsa recalls that it “had intervened so that a moratorium was pronounced on this measure in view of the overall numbers in nursery and elementary school. The forecasts of the moment reported a significant number of CM2 (44 in the February 2023 forecast) while very few GS (Grande section) students were announced.
“The distribution of staff remains possible”
Christine Laverdet insists on one point: “We indicated that the prevention work that can be done in kindergarten was essential and that the low numbers in kindergarten could allow good conditions for prevention work. These elements had been heard and the measure suspended” she rejoiced.
“Today, unfortunately, the situation has not improved. Even with one class less at the start of the 2024 school year, the distribution of students remains possible to maintain both suitable learning conditions and conditions of inclusion correct” she continues.
A nice waste… or not?
Then the union leader points out what she does not hesitate to define as “an aberration” in the school map. “The RPI Saint-Géry-Vers is an example of the absurdity of the measure taken outside of any projection. Indeed, since the closure of the 4th class at the start of the 2018 school year, this RPI (Pedagogical Grouping) has not functioned really with 3 classes only one year. No comment! If it isn’t a great waste to the extent that, during all these years, there has been no stability of a team on the RPI.”
Another strong proposal: the administration presented the merger of Coeur de Causse (Labastide-Murat). The municipality having given its agreement, this grouping will be effective at the start of the 2024 school year.
Replacement, a major priority
Unsa Education does not hesitate to comment on the school map projects through the voice of Christine Laverdet. “We remain on piecemeal management which does not allow us to confirm in actions and choices, the priorities stated in the preamble such as the priority of replacement. The forecasts of the workforce for the coming years show a very significant drop” she laments.
Qualitative first
Unsa hopes that the institution can “provide means to achieve quality with, for example, the creation of replacement positions by closing classes where there are fewer than 10 students, sometimes with only 1 student in their class.” ‘age.”
In summary and conclusion, the school map is therefore for Unsa Education “a minimalist map which does not meet the challenges of the 21st century school.” File to follow. Unsa lays its (academic) card on the table and hopes to negotiate with some serious assets to defend.
