2024 Pro Football Hall of Fame Nominations: Nine Players Selected for the First Time

The 2024 Pro Football Hall of Fame nominations list has been announced, and nine players, including three-time All-Pros Julius Peppers and Antonio Gates, have been selected for the first time. The nine new inductees have a combined 42 Pro Bowl berths and 12 All-Pro selections, reflecting their impressive NFL careers.

Here are the nine players who were first nominated for the 2024 Pro Football Hall of Fame:

1. Julius Peppers: A dominant defensive lineman who played for teams like the Carolina Panthers, Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers during his 17-year NFL career. Peppers recorded 159 1/2 sacks, which is the fourth most since sacks were introduced in 1982. He was named to the All-Pro list three times and is considered one of the best pass rushers in NFL history.

2. Antonio Gates: Gates began his career as a college basketball player before switching to football and becoming one of the NFL’s best tight ends. He played for the San Diego Chargers for 16 seasons and recorded an impressive 955 catches, 11,841 yards and 116 touchdown receptions, which is an NFL record for tight ends.

3. Brandon Marshall: A standout wide receiver who played for several teams in his career, including the Denver Broncos, Miami Dolphins, Chicago Bears and New York Jets. Marshall recorded multiple seasons with over 100 passes caught and over 1,000 receiving yards and was selected to the Pro Bowl six times.

4. Jordy Nelson: Nelson played most of his career for the Green Bay Packers and was a key player in their Super Bowl win in 2011. He was voted All-Pro once and rushed for over 8,500 yards and 72 touchdowns in his career .

5. Jamaal Charles: A standout running back who accomplished great things for the Kansas City Chiefs. Charles recorded multiple seasons with over 1,000 rushing yards and was selected to the Pro Bowl four times. He was also a versatile player who was used effectively in the passing game.

6. TJ Lang: A talented offensive lineman who played for the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions. Lang was known for his versatility, playing both the guard and tackle positions. He was selected to the Pro Bowl three times.

7. Josh Sitton: Another outstanding offensive lineman who played for the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears. Sitton was known for his pass protection skills and was selected to the Pro Bowl four times.

8. Max Unger: Unger was a reliable center in the NFL, playing for the Seattle Seahawks and New Orleans Saints. He was selected to the Pro Bowl twice and helped the Seahawks win the Super Bowl in 2014.

9. Haloti Ngata: A physically dominant defensive tackle who played for the Baltimore Ravens, Detroit Lions and Philadelphia Eagles. Ngata was selected to the Pro Bowl five times and was a key part of the Ravens defense that won the Super Bowl in 2013.

These nine players have had impressive careers in the NFL and are now in the discussion for the 2024 Pro Football Hall of Fame. The List of nominees will be reduced to 25 semi-finalists later in the year and then 15 finalists before the final selection is announced in August next year. The final five inductees must receive 80% of the selection committee’s votes to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
