“2024 NFL Draft: Mock Drafts Suggest Green Bay Packers Target Offensive Line and Cornerback Positions”

The 2024 NFL Draft is still a few months away, but mock drafts are already suggesting potential targets for the Green Bay Packers. While fans identified safety and off-ball linebacker as the team’s biggest needs, recent mock drafts have highlighted the cornerback and offensive line positions as areas of focus for the Packers.

Offensive line has become an interesting position for the Packers, with potential holes at left tackle and right guard. The team will also need to make a decision about David Bakhtiari’s health, as he has been sidelined since 2020 due to a major surgery. Two offensive linemen have emerged as potential picks for the Packers in mock drafts.

Jordan Morgan, an offensive lineman from Arizona, has been projected as a potential selection for the Packers. Morgan’s decision to return to college for another year resulted in a successful season for Arizona, and his versatility could be an asset for Green Bay. Dane Brugler of The Athletic believes that Morgan could be better suited for a move inside in the NFL, providing the Packers with much-needed depth on the offensive line.

Kingsley Suamataia, an offensive lineman from BYU, has also been mentioned as a possible pick for the Packers. Suamataia, who started his college career at Oregon before transferring closer to home, is a hulking tackle prospect with experience playing both left and right tackle. Brandon Thorn of Bleacher Report suggests that if the Packers want to increase their offensive flexibility in 2024, upgrading the left tackle position could be a priority.

In addition to offensive linemen, mock drafts have also suggested that the Packers could target cornerbacks in the draft. While cornerback didn’t emerge as a major need in fan polls, several mock drafts have given the Packers a cornerback selection.

Cooper DeJean from Iowa is one cornerback prospect who makes sense for the Packers. DeJean has experience playing both cornerback and a hybrid nickel position, making him a versatile option for Green Bay’s defense. Pro Football Focus believes that DeJean could start at a safety/slot spot for the Packers, providing flexibility in the secondary.

There are also a few other cornerback prospects that have been mentioned in mock drafts, including Kool-Aid McKinstry from Alabama, Nate Wiggins from Clemson, and Quinyon Mitchell from Toledo. While these players are expected to be outside cornerbacks at the next level, it’s unclear if the Packers truly need to use a high draft pick on a cornerback given their current roster depth.

Overall, the mock drafts suggest that the Packers will prioritize addressing their offensive line and cornerback positions in the 2024 NFL Draft. With potential holes on the offensive line and uncertainty surrounding David Bakhtiari’s health, adding depth and talent to the line could be crucial for the team’s success. Additionally, bolstering the cornerback position could provide flexibility and depth in the secondary. As the offseason progresses, it will be interesting to see how the Packers address these needs and shape their roster for the upcoming season.
