The most luxurious models of the Hongqi brand are now separated into a separate family yellow sunflowerand at the top of the “standard range” remained the familiar sedan Hongqi H9 length 5137 mm. It has been produced in China since 2020, and now it’s time to update: the revamped “nine” was shown at the Beijing Motor Show.
External changes are not surprising, but in fact almost the entire outer tail has been redone. New bumpers have appeared, the radiator grill has received a different pattern, and its light frame is now laid not on the inner shape of the frame, but on the outside. New matrix lights – with two thousand pixels each. The wheel design is changed (19 or 20 inches).
The taillights are now made using OLED technology, each with 256 LEDs instead of 20 in the pre-reform sedan, and this matrix allows you to choose one of five light patterns ( there is a separate media system menu for this). The Hongqi H9 can now be ordered with a sports package, which includes different bumpers with black inserts, 20-inch black wheels and red decorations on the front fenders (instead of silver on the basic version). Furthermore, only the sports version still has retractable door handles – the rest now have traditional handles for a natural grip.
The interior was completely redone, including even the steering wheel and door trim. New instrument and media screens (12.3 inches each) are no longer integrated into the front panel, but are installed on top of it. The center console is gone, as are the rotary knobs, although a block of analog keys remains to control basic climate control functions. Ventilation fans are now electrically driven to change the direction of the flow.
In the original configurations, the Hongqi H9 has leatherette seat covers; for expensive versions, nappa leather is used. And only for cars with real leather are separate second-row seats with a large console between them.
The engine range was expected to be completely revised at the same time as the restyling, but the 1.8 (224 hp) and 2.5 (303 hp) turbo engines that have been promised yet to appear. The original configuration is the same – 2.0 turbo-four (252 hp, 380 Nm) with a 48-volt starter generator, seven-speed pre-selectable “robot” and only rear-wheel drive. The maximum speed is 230 km/h, acceleration to “hundreds” is in 7.3 seconds.
The V6 3.0 turbocharged engine was improved – its output was increased from 283 hp. and 400 Nm up to 337 hp. and 445 Nm. At the same time, he does not yet have a hybrid weight. Instead of a robot, six-cylinder sedans now have a classic eight-speed automatic transmission, and you can also choose the type of drive – rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The acceleration time to 100 km/h is 6.4 and 6.5 seconds, respectively, and the top speed is 250 and 245 km/h. Finally, V6-engined cars have air suspension with adaptive shock absorbers (two-liter versions have regular springs).
The upgraded Hongqi H9 sedans are already available for order in China. Local prices range from 330 thousand to 540 thousand yuan (46-75 thousand dollars). And the next stage in the evolution of the H9 model is the appearance of an electric version. At the Beijing Motor Show, such a sedan was presented in the form of a concept car with the index Hongqi E702.
The tail and lights of the electric car were redesigned, the decoration was simplified, cameras were installed instead of side mirrors and wheels with a diameter of 21 inches. But the body of the “nine” was still recognizable. Unfortunately, there is no technical data yet. The production version should appear before the end of the year.
