The round of 16 of the Hockey Allsvenskan has been decided.
Now it is clear how the quarter-finals will be played.
– We have chosen the lowest ranked team, says Brynäs coach Niklas Gällstedt in TV4 Play.
Karlskoga crushed Kalmar (5–1) and clinched the last quarter-final spot.
Afterwards, the top trio of the regular season – Brynäs, Södertälje and AIK – chose opponents from among the 5 to 8 seeded teams.
Repeat from last year
Brynäs took eighth-ranked Nybro and Södertälje used the same tactic: as low-ranked opposition as possible.
But AIK coach Anton Blomqvist went against the grain and chose fifth Mora.
That left city rival Djurgården with Björklöven. A repeat of last year’s semi-final – the one behind Fredric Weigel’s planned media frenzy ahead of the upcoming playoffs.
