2024 Formula 1 Race Calendar: Changes and Adaptations for a Sustainable Season

The organizers stated that the Bahrain and Saudi Arabia awards will be held on the second and ninth Saturday of March, “in order to adapt to the month of Ramadan,” which begins on the tenth of it.

As a result, three races will be held on Saturday in 2024, as the two Arabian races will join the Las Vegas Grand Prix, which this year will host a night race on Saturday evening, which will be the first since 1985 not to be held on the traditional Sunday.

This year it was scheduled to consist of 24 record races, but the Chinese Grand Prix was canceled in April due to restrictions related to Covid-19, while the Italian Emilia-Romagna race at the Imola circuit was canceled due to floods that hit the region.

The two races are on the calendar for the next season, which starts in early March and ends in Abu Dhabi in early December.

The Grand Prix of Belgium was retained at the prestigious Spa-Francorchamps, which was threatened by new, more lucrative events and facilities.

World Championship organizers have also changed the scheduling of some races in order to “better adapt the calendar, reduce logistical burdens and make the season more sustainable.”

The Japan race has been brought forward to April, while the Azerbaijan Grand Prix has returned to September, and the Qatar race has become the penultimate race of the season.

Organizers said the calendar “creates a better flow of races in certain regions”.
