If Bandeira recently stated that he did not intend to participate in the next election, the position is now different. Not only does he admit to running, but he has become the favorite to represent the group that intends to defeat Landim.

Eduardo Bandeira de Mello presided over the Flamengo from 2013 to 2018. He arrived at the club together with Wallim Vasconcellos and Rodolfo Landim, who were the candidates for president and vice-general in the 2012 elections. As the two had no association life of five uninterrupted years, they were challenged, and Bandeira and Walter D’ Agostino became the representatives of Chapa Azul – Flamengo World champion.

As Bandeira had expressed in recent months that he did not intend to run for president, the name of Flávio Willeman, legal vice-president of the club between 2012 and 2018, emerged as the strongest to represent the group.

On the 14th, a vote on an amendment to the statute that prohibited the presence of people with elected positions in public entities in the presidential elections of the Flamengo interrupted the Deliberative Council session. This measure affected Eduardo Bandeira de Mello, federal deputy for the PSB. A week later, the president of CoDe, Antônio Alcides, declared the session over.

As Bandeira and his peers guarantee that this amendment had been rejected by the majority of those present at the session, the former president considered the suspension of the vote as a “coup” (see video below).
