2024 Cycling Report – News

The àVélo electric-assisted bike sharing service continued to gain popularity in its fourth season! More than 35 000 clients have achieved 1.28 million trips from May 1 to October 31, 2024, surpassing the objective of reaching 1.1 million trips by the end of the season.

Fans of the service have demonstrated a 96% satisfaction rate. Nearly 94% of trips were made by monthly or annual subscribers, who used the service an average of 2.7 times per week. Note also that 67% of occasional customers have adopted the service by making more than one single trip. During the season, the station located at Place D’Youville was the busiest, followed by the one located at Place Jacques-Cartier and the one located on Fraser Street.

The service was most popular during the month of July, particularly with trips linked to the Festival d’été de Québec (FEQ). As in previous years, a temporary station located on the Plains of Abraham was deployed to facilitate the movement of festival-goers. It was also during this period that the record day was observed: more than 10,731 trips were made on July 4.

For the next season, the network will be enhanced with a total of 165 stations and of 1,800 bicycles. The locations of the new stations will be presented later. As announced last May, 330 stations and 3,300 bicycles will be available by 2028.
