Temperatures this winter (December to February) have been higher than normal throughout the country. The high temperatures from December to January are thought to have delayed the breakout of dormancy in warm regions, but the high temperatures in February seem to have accelerated the blooming of cherry blossoms in various regions.
From now on, temperatures in many places will remain lower than average, although the weather will continue to be cold and hot in early March. However, temperatures from mid-March to late March are expected to remain at or above normal. As a result, cherry blossom buds will grow smoothly, and flowering will be at or earlier than normal throughout the country.
