Unlike in England, the 2024 BMW M4 facelift did not mean that the manual switch was eliminated here, which is why a copy with a manual six-speed gearbox can currently be exhibited in the BMW Welt Munich. The classic configuration of the M4 is aimed specifically at people who prefer to enjoy pure driving pleasure – with rear-wheel drive and six hand-sorted gears. The fact that the “basic M4” with 480 hp is somewhat weaker and, with a base price of 96,200 euros, is also over 6,000 euros cheaper than the competition version should play a minor role in the choice in this price range.
In a recent video by rsDrive we see the refreshed coupé with individual paint in chalk (color code P7B) and the M graphic in high-gloss black painted on the hood. Even more interesting than the colors is undoubtedly the new lighting technology that was introduced with the facelift and clearly distinguishes the BMW M4 (G82 LCI) from the previous model: The new daytime running light design at the front gives the M4 a fresh touch, which is shown in the video can be viewed up close.
The new taillights are likely to be at least as important to many customers as the new headlights, as the Coupé adopts these from the exclusive M4 CSL: The taillights with laser light technology were previously reserved for the limited top model, but are now available on all variants of the 4 Series facelift (G22 LCI ) Moved in – at least when the vehicles are ordered with the special equipment ‘Adaptive LED headlights’.
Unlike here, the BMW M4 facelift in Great Britain not only resulted in a new look, but also a dramatic reduction in the number of variants: both the 480 hp basic model with manual switch and the 510 hp competition version with rear-wheel drive have been eliminated without replacement. The coupé can now only be ordered in the new 530 hp M xDrive version with all-wheel drive – a restriction that has in the past not harmed either the M4 Cabrio or the M3 Touring in any way.
