Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
Two Asian teams, Japan and Iran, had to fight hard after being confirmed in the hell group 2023 U-17 World Cup.
In the drawing held in Zurich, Switzerland, Friday (15/9), Japan was joined in Group D along with Argentina, Senegal and Poland.
Argentina has never tasted a title in this age group tournament. However, the big names and abundance of talent in the Albiceleste U-17 squad are certainly factors that make opponents reluctant.
Apart from having to face Argentina, Japan will also challenge Senegal and Poland. These two teams are also not easy opponents for Japan.
Senegal is known to have powerful and fast players. Meanwhile, Poland finished in fourth place at the 1993 U-17 World Cup.
On paper, Argentina will seal a place in the knockout phase. Meanwhile, one ticket must automatically be contested by Japan, Poland and Senegal.
Meanwhile in Group D, Iran is also in a tough group with Brazil, England and New Caledonia.
Iran may be able to overcome Caledonia, but Brazil and England are football superpowers. Brazil has won the title four times, while England has collected one trophy.
Meanwhile, Indonesia could be said to be in the light group. With host status, Indonesia is in Group A with Ecuador, Panama and Morocco.
The entire series of U-17 World Cup matches will be held in Indonesia from 10 November to 2 December 2023.
The U-17 World Cup will be held in four stadiums, namely the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) in Jakarta, the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium, Surabaya, the Jalak Harupat Stadium in Bandung, and the Manahan Stadium in Solo.
