Group C 2023 U-17 World Cup featuring fierce competition involving three countries, namely England, Brazil and Iran. Following are the Group C standings U-17 World Cup after Brazil beat England on Friday (17/11) night.
The England vs Brazil duel which took place at the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) featured a tough and tight duel. England dominated possession of the ball, while Brazil tried to play effectively.
Brazil took the lead thanks to a goal from Kaua Elias with two minutes of normal time left in the first half. Da Mata then made it 2-0 for the Selecao youth team in the 54th minute with a free header.
England, who never stopped attacking, received a penalty in the 69th minute. Joel Ndala’s execution made The Three Lions’ young squad close the distance. Until the match ended, Brazil led 2-1 over England.
Meanwhile, in another match, Iran scored a 5-0 victory over New Caledonia.
The defeat did not change England’s position from the top of the standings with six points and a goal scoring difference of 13 to 3 conceded.
Meanwhile, Brazil is in second place in the final standings of Group C. Brazil’s points are the same as England, only Brazil’s goal difference is less, namely 13 goals scored and four conceded.
Iran ranks third, also with six points. Iran’s goal difference is nine to four. Even though they only rank third, Iran still has the right to qualify for the round of 16 through the best third place top four position.
New Caledonia is bottom of Group C because they have never won. The Oceania representative has never scored a goal and conceded 24 times.
