2023 was the most active year for tourism since 2019, which was the last year before the pandemic. From 2020 to 2022, the industry languished worldwide, but last year travel demand returned to (and even surpassed) pre-pandemic levels. The reasons are different – restrictions have been lifted, there is no need for “covid certificates”, and the most popular destinations have to think again about how to slow down the excessive interest of tourists.
New restrictions were imposed to reduce the interest of travelers – limited cruise ship docking times, increased tourist taxes, as well as a limited number of tourists that a specific destination could accommodate. However, it did not end there – both the authorities and the residents of their favorite destinations began to think “outside the box”, setting various unusual and even strange restrictions.
