JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV- The Taurid meteor shower will decorate the Indonesian sky from 6 to 13 November 2023. According to the BRIN page, this astronomical phenomenon takes place every year from September to December.
The Taurids are a small, long-lasting meteor shower that only produces about 5 to 10 meteors per hour. The Southern Taurids occurred on November 6 with a frequency of 6.3 to 6.9 meteors per hour.
This happens when the Moon enters the final neap phase, aka half moon. Meanwhile, northern Taurid will reach its peak on the night of 11 to 12 November 2023.

Tonight, the moon will experience a full phase of 2 percent. The peak of this meteor shower will occur late at night, in contrast to most meteor showers which peak at dawn.
The North Taurid will occur with an intensity of 4.2 to 4.8 meteors per hour. This meteor shower occurs when the Earth is passing through an area where there are lots of particles and dust in that area.
The dust and particles will pass into the Earth’s atmosphere, making it look like a meteor shower. This phenomenon occurs due to dust left by Asteroid 2004 TG10.
In addition, these particles come from the debris of Comet 2P Encke.
How to See the Taurid Meteor Shower
The Taurid meteor shower can be seen in the sky in all parts of Indonesia. This meteor shower can also be seen without using tools and is actually better seen with the naked eye.
The Taurids meteor shower also does not have a significant impact on Earth. This phenomenon will show a beautiful view.
