The president of the Centre-Val de Loire region, François Bonneau, presented this Friday, April 7 the 2023 program of New Renaissances.
For this cultural and tourist season, creation will be in the spotlight. “The theme chosen, Land of creation, highlights the creators of our region, of yesterday but especially of today, he declares. Moreover, nearly 300 events have already been labeled. And this year, writers’ houses and museums are finally joining the movement.” As for the ambassador of the season, it is Stéphane Bern.
What was the program in 2022?
See you on All Saints Day
The novelties are legion in this edition. One of the most important is the creation of the Archipel festival, which will take place over two weeks, during the All Saints holidays. It is the result of collaboration between the Center Pompidou and the region. Indeed, an agreement has been signed for works from the Parisian center to be installed in museums in the region during its work in 2025.
“Several works will arrive this year for the festival, explains Anne-Laure Chamboissier, artistic curator. The idea is to bring the works of the Center Pompidou into dialogue with places in the Centre-Val de Loire, through their history and their architecture” .

Design will be honored at the Orléans Museum of Fine Arts, with the works of Ettore Sottsass.
Bourges, European capital of culture?
Last round for the candidacy of the city of Bourges as European Capital of Culture in 2028?! “We are now in the second round of selection, facing three major cities: Montpellier, Clermont-Ferrand and Rouen, says Yann Galut, Mayor of Bourges. We act as Tom Thumb against these giants.” Supported by François Bonneau, president of the Centre-Val de Loire region, he wants Bourges to become a key entry point to the region. “If it is selected, we can imagine wanderings starting from Bourges to the whole region. The dynamic of New Renaissance is also going in this direction and brings a lot to our territory.” The elected official also recalls the impact that such an event has on tourism: “The city of Matera, in Italy, capital in 2019, went from 50,000 visitors before his appointment, to 750,000, before stabilizing around 450,000 in 2020 and 2021. It’s huge and hugely benefits the local economy.”
