The 2023 Porsche 911 Carrera GTS America will arrive in showrooms at the end of 2022 as model year 2023. Created in very limited numbers, it will be one of the rarest of the Type-992 models.
A 70-year-old tradition
This series continues a tradition born in 1952, that of a sports convertible intended for enthusiasts in North America. Max Hoffman, Porsche’s first importer in the United States, convinced Porsche to develop a special lightweight version for the American market: the 1953 356 America Roadster. 1,480cc developing 70bhp, significantly more power than earlier smaller 40bhp engines.
400 more horsepower for the 2023 convertible
The new 911 Carrera GTS America convertible is powered by a twin-turbocharged, 3.0L opposed flat-six that develops 473 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque. The standard Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) Sport system lowers the car by 10mm and adds auxiliary springs to the rear. The sport exhaust and the Sport Chrono package are also standard equipment. Rear-wheel steering and Porsche Ceramic Compound Brakes (PCCB) are available at extra cost. As standard, the car is equipped with 408 mm cast iron disc brakes and six-piston aluminum fixed calipers at the front and 380 mm disc brakes and fixed calipers with black finish on the front. back.
A unique style
Thanks to the aesthetic changes imagined by Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur, seen from afar and up close, this sports car presents a striking appearance. Among the color palette, the Azur Blue 356 shade was chosen for this 2023 model, thus evoking the 1953 356 America Roadster. The windshield frame has a satin black finish. The RS Spyder Design rims are characterized by their special finish, the inside of the spokes being white and the outside silver, with a thin red Guard line on the flange. Along the doors, the white and red Guard decal bears the wording “America”, while at the rear there is the designation “911 Carrera” in white and the letters “GTS” in Guard red. Cross-stitch seams in Guard Red with peripheral stitching in Pebble Gray echo the color scheme throughout the cabin, particularly on the top of the dashboard and the door panels. Two-tone stitching in Guard Red and Pebble Gray continues the contrast on the leather-trimmed center console armrest with embossed “America” designation. Exclusive illuminated treadplates commemorating the 70th anniversary of the 356 America Roadster are also standard equipment.
Same approach inside
This theme continues on board with the available interior package which includes a red marker stripe on the top of the steering wheel and red stitching on the inside edge. This package also adds two-tone stitching to the gear lever gaiter and red gear grid pattern to the lever. Sports seats Plus receive twin stitching in Red and Pebble Grey, with ‘911’ stitching in red on the head restraints and leather back release straps in the same colour. The carpets are adorned with the same two-tone stitching in shades of red and white. Finally, the key painted in Azur blue 356 harmonizes with the car, and a leather case with two-tone stitching and “America” embossing completes the set.
Price and availability
The arrival of the 2023 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet America is scheduled for the end of 2022. The starting MSRP is $206,190. Adding the interior package brings the MSRP to $214,750.
