2023 Lunar Calendar: When is the full moon of each month? | Big Bang

The full moon, also known as full moon, is one of the most awaited astronomical events by fans of this satellite. Many are those who at this point begin to consult the dates of these phenomena to contemplate them in all their splendor. And it is that a large part of you will agree that the Perseids, also known as the Tears of San Lorenzo, are unique astronomical phenomena, whether you like this world or not, it is worth stopping to contemplate at least once, but the full moon is that other astronomical phenomenon that can be enjoyed every month and that is also worth seeing, since it is one of the most special.

Despite being a natural wonder, you probably don’t know how this phenomenon occurs. For this, it is important to take into account the lunar cycle, that is, the path that the Moon itself takes from when it appears in the sky until it goes down. This process lasts, specifically, 28 days and in it we can distinguish two clear phases: waxing and waning. The first is the one in which the satellite increases in size more and more, from the stage known as the New Moon until the third day of the full moon, and it is at the climax moment that the Full Moon is reached. From this moment until the arrival of the next clean moon, it begins the waning phase. Therefore, growing symbolizes the beginnings and development of this satellite, while waning is its maturation and closing phase.

After this brief introduction we are going to proceed to solve the doubt of how the full moon occurs. This full moon, as you have seen, is a lunar phase that happens when the Earth meets the Sun and the Moon, which means that this satellite is fully illuminated.
