That night, the world’s top conductor Van Zweden, together with the famous pianist Wan Jieni, led the Hainan Island International Music Festival Festival Orchestra to perform a number of Beethoven’s classic works, bringing an audio-visual feast to music fans at home and abroad. .

That night, the opening concert performed a complete set of Beethoven’s works – Beethoven’s “Egmont Overture”, “Piano Concerto No. 3 in C minor, Op. 37” and “Symphony No. 5 in C minor, Op. 67”. At the concert, the enthusiasm of the audience ignited the festival orchestra, and they performed several additional songs after the official program. Among them, “Happy Female Warrior” was selected from Hainan’s local classic ballet “The Red Detachment of Women.” In order to repay the enthusiastic and professional music fans, van Zweden and the orchestra performed an additional song “Radesky March”. The concert ended with warm applause and cheers from the audience.
Wan Jieni, the founder, artistic director and famous pianist of the festival, said that almost all the world’s first-class music festivals have exclusive resident orchestras. Out of this concept, the 2023 Hainan Island International Music Festival Festival Orchestra gathered together with today’s domestic symphony orchestras elites from all walks of life. The orchestra not only has the Suzhou Symphony Orchestra as the main force, but also invites German violinist Zhang Ying as the concertmaster, and is also joined by outstanding musicians from the Ningbo Symphony Orchestra, Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra, Fuzhou Strait Symphony Orchestra and other first-class domestic symphony orchestras.

Wan Jieni revealed that the festival will also stage the “Eternal Four Seasons” concert by violin master Lu Siqing and the Meijie New Youth Orchestra, and the cross-border “Sea” concert by the world-famous bass baritone singer Shen Yang and the Li Junshu Trio. “Jazz” concert, world-famous cellist Wang Jian’s “Bach in the Sunset” cello solo concert, and the Hot Island Jazz Night on December 23 and 24, including the Robbie Potts Quartet , Grammy jazz master and African bass king Richard Boehner Trio, Jazz Uncle Quintet, Latin Project and other performances.
