Cinema is the most famous, popular and common expression of the arts related to the audiovisual world. A work that combines the participation and work of people who occupy a specific role within the creative process, production and dissemination of a cinematographic work.

Currently, the Cartagena de Indias International Film Festival (Ficci) celebrates its 62nd edition. The event will include a series of talks, film screenings, workshops and other activities throughout its five days, from the 22nd to the March 27, 2023.
This year’s festival will feature the participation of renowned characters from the world of international cinema who were invited to participate in activities such as talks and film screenings.
A tribute to international cinema
One of the outstanding participations in this year’s event is that of the Chilean director Sebastián Lelio, who won the Oscar for best foreign film in 2018 for the film ‘A Fantastic Woman’ (2017).
This year, the event’s tribute will revolve around the work of Lelio who, since 1995, began his career in the world of cinematography with the short film ‘4’. In addition, his career includes several jobs, such as: being in charge of the film ‘Ciudad de Maravillas’ (2022), participating in the audiovisual scene with the film ‘Efecto Kulechov’ (2010) and with the production titled ‘Gloria’ (2013).
This year’s Ficci celebration will comprise three fundamental moments dedicated to highlighting the career of the Chilean director. On Friday, March 24, there will be a space for conversation with the actress Natalia Reyes, director of Academia del Ficci, in the patio of the Spanish Cooperation Training Center. On the same day, at night, the tribute to the director will continue at the Adolfo Mejía Theater with the screening of his most recent film, ‘El Prodigio’ (2022) available on Netflix, this being an event that will be attended by the director.
Finally, on March 25 there will be a screening of the film ‘A fantastic woman’ (2017), which will take place in the courtyard of the Palace of the Inquisition, in the Historical Museum of Cartagena, on the occasion of the celebration of 25 years of ‘Ibermedia’.
A master of action
Another international guest who will be present within the framework of Ficci 2023 is the director Tim Miller, who has had several participations in famous Hollywood films.
The director debuted in the world of cinema with the movie ‘Deadpool’ (2016), the project that brought the favorite anti-hero of Marvel fans to the big screen, starring actor Ryan Reynolds.
Miller’s work is visible in other audiovisual and cinematographic products, such as the film ‘Terminator: Hidden Fate’ (2019) and the animated anthology ‘Love, Death & Robots’ available on Netflix, which has three seasons so far. . Tim Miller will be a special guest at the fifth edition of the Audiovisual Industry Convention (NIDO), which is held within the 62nd edition of Ficci. In this event, he will have a conversation space with Alejandro Marín, where he will share his experience in the world of cinema.
