Abu Dhabi, September 18 / WAM / The pace of electoral campaigns has accelerated for the 2023 Federal National Council candidates, who have intensified their live appearances on social media platforms, while being keen to break stereotypes in the contents of their proposed electoral programs.
A large number of electoral programs circulated on social media platforms were distinguished by their focus on forward-looking topics such as building a knowledge economy, promoting scientific research and artificial intelligence, the space sector, and other related topics, which constituted a real addition to the electoral scene compared to previous electoral experiences.
These programs reflect the development and growth of parliamentary culture among a large segment of candidates who were keen to present topics that were more appropriate and in line with the future aspirations of the UAE government, which enhances the process of political participation and parliamentary work in the country.
Many of the electoral programs presented by young candidates focused specifically on the issue of investing in the Emirati human being in advanced science fields such as space, nuclear energy, communication technologies and programming, considering that moving forward in developing national Emirati cadres in those sectors contributes to creating innovative economic alternatives. New development projects provide thousands of job opportunities for the younger generation.
Many electoral programs called for enhancing the benefit from the outcomes of the digital revolution by launching more smart applications in vital fields, such as health, education, and housing, with the aim of strengthening direct communication channels between service providers and the public and providing a mechanism that allows providing comments and suggestions in an interactive and constructive manner.
The electoral campaigns for the candidates will continue until Tuesday, October 3, 2023, in order to express themselves and publicize their electoral programs with the aim of convincing members of the electoral bodies to vote for them during the fifth session of the Federal National Council elections.
The National Elections Commission affirmed its keenness to achieve the principle of equal opportunities among all candidates while presenting their electoral programs in a fair and transparent atmosphere, and in a way that guarantees the right of candidates to communicate with members of electoral bodies to present their ideas and visions regarding public issues and propose appropriate solutions to them. In order to achieve the interests of the nation and enhance the quality of life of citizens.
The committee had issued a guide to “Building Parliamentary Capacities for the UAE Community,” which identified (6) main criteria for preparing an effective electoral program that is short, simple, honest and reliable, includes issues that concern voters, is different from others, addresses the mind and heart, and is purposeful.
The guide called on the candidate and his electoral campaign team to develop an electoral program capable of competing with the electoral programs of other candidates, given that the candidate will not be alone in the midst of electoral campaigns, but rather the content of his electoral program may be similar to many other electoral programs.
