End of year prizes continue to be awarded. Jannik Sinner won two awards this season, that of the most improved player in 2023 but above all the fan favorite award which for more than 20 years has been exclusively awarded to Roger Federer (19 times) and Rafael Nadal ( 1 time).
The Italian’s team was also rewarded. Darren Cahill and Simone Vagnozzi, the coaches of the native of San Candido won the coach of the year prize to the great annoyance of Novak Djokovic who thinks that his coach deserves much more this price. Carlos Alcaraz was also rewarded with the fairest player award.
The Spaniard’s contagious smile and his good humor on the circuit whatever the issues earned him an almost unanimous vote from his peers. Finally Arthur Fils, without surprises, won the title of revelation of the year thanks to his fantastic season and his breakthrough into the top-50.
Tournaments also win prizes
Players are not the only ones to win prizes at the end of the year, tournaments are also entitled to this distinction by category. Thus it is Indian Wells which wins the prize for best tournament in the masters 1000 category.
In the 500 category, it was the Queen’s which was played on grass which won the prize. Finally the clay court tournament in Bastad was elected as the best tournament in the 250 category.
The @BNPPARIBASOPEN in Indian Wells, the @QueensTennis at the Queen’s Club in London, and the @NordeaOpen in Bastad continue to set the standard on the ATP Tour, winning Tournament of the Year honours in their respective categories in the 2023 #ATPAwards.
