Mohanlal, Shah Rukh Khan, Rajinikanth, Vadivelu, Karthik Subbaraj, Nelson Dilip Kumar, Deol brothers and many others have come back to satisfy their fans with epic hits. Let’s take a look at the actors and crew who returned with such a grand success in 2023.
Shah Rukh Khan
Shah Rukh Khan, the king of Bollywood, made the biggest comeback in Indian cinema. A film starring Shahrukh who took a break from films after the bad reviews of films like Zero and Fan hit the theaters after about a thousand days. Shahrukh came as the savior of Bollywood which was going through a bad situation.
Three films were released in 2023 as Shahrukh. Pathan and Jaawan have collected more than 1000 crore rupees at the box office. Dunki, which has reached the end of the year, is also doing well at the box office.
Rajinikanth and Nelson Dilip Kumar
One of the biggest comebacks in South Indian cinema was that of superstar Rajinikanth. Rajini films Durbar and Annatha released after 2019 were disappointments at the box office and fans. But in 2023, Nelson became a superstar to repeat his success with Dilip Kumar-directed Jailer. Nelson also managed to reverse the setback in Beast starring Vijay.
Bobby Deol and Sunny Deol
The Deol brothers had one of the biggest comebacks in Bollywood. Sunny Deol repeated his box office power with Gaddaar 2. Gaddaar 2 is a sequel to the 2001 blockbuster Gaddaar: Ek Prem Katha. The film is set in the backdrop of the 1971 India-Pakistan war. The film earned Rs 687.8 crore at the box office.
Sunny Deol’s brother and Bollywood star Bobby Deol also announced his comeback in Bollywood. Bobby Deol came back with the villain role in Ranveer Singh starrer Animal. Animal, which is still running high at the box office, has collected Rs 836.1 crore worldwide so far. Bobby’s character and screen presence in the film was highly praised.

Vadivelu, who was confined to comedy roles, stayed away from Tamil cinema for some time. In 2023, Vadivelu broke his image in Mamannan directed by Mari Selvaraj. In the film, Vadivelu played the role of Mamannan, a Dalit MLA from a constituency in Salem district.
Udayanidhi Stalin played the lead role in the film. The film released in theaters on June 29, 2023. 50 crore club in the second week. Mamannan was also Udayanidhi Stahl’s highest grossing film.
Karthik Subbaraj
After Petta, Karthik Subbaraj’s film Jagame Thanthiram received poor reviews. Mahan, which was done right after, was an OTT release.
