2023 Asian Games: Indonesian Men’s Volleyball Team Faces Challenges Without Rivan Nurmulki

TRIBUNGAYO.COM – The 2023 Asian Games will start soon on Tuesday (19/9/2023), and with it also come the highly anticipated men’s volleyball matches.

In this event, Agil Angga will be confident in replacing Rivan Nurmulki’s role.

The Indonesian men’s national volleyball team’s first match at the 2023 Asian Games will take place against the Philippines on Tuesday (19/9/2023).

However, the real challenge for the Indonesian men’s national volleyball team will come in their second match in this tournament, when they will face Japan, champions of the 2023 AVC Championship, on Wednesday (20/9/2023).

Even though on paper the Indonesian National Team may not be the favorite, they will try their best in this match.

The final match in the group F phase of the 2023 Asian Games will bring together the Indonesian men’s national volleyball team and Afghanistan on Thursday (21/9/2023).

Replacement of Rivan Nurmulki by Agil Angga

Even though Rivan Nurmulki is the best hitter in Indonesian volleyball, currently he cannot play in the Asian Games because he is focused on undergoing an ethics trial with the Central Board of the Indonesian Volleyball Association (PP PBVSI).

Rivan Nurmulki was unable to participate in the 2023 Asian Volleyball Championships in Iran (19-26 August) beforehand.

He gave the reason that he wanted to complete the process of resigning from the police and wanted to support his wife who was about to give birth.

However, Rivan then took part in the 2023 National Police Chief Cup with the East Kalimantan team, which ended on September 2.

This decision means he cannot be included in the Indonesian squad for the 2022 Asian Games, and he is even threatened with sanctions from the Central Management of the All Indonesian Volleyball Association (PP PBVSI).

In Rivan’s absence, the opposite role was taken over by Agil Angga.

This 23 year old player has undergone two tryouts in Taiwan and Iran as preparation.
