Indonesian National team can qualify for the round of 16 2023 Asian Cup before fighting Japanese national team. However, there are conditions that must be met by other groups.
The Group D 2023 Asian Cup, Japan and Indonesia both collected three points. The Blue Samurai are in a better position than the Garuda Squad because they are superior on goal difference.
Indonesia is in second place in the top three standings. Together with Bahrain, Indonesia recorded three points with a goal difference of minus 1.

The teams under Indonesia are China, Oman, Syria and Palestine. China is certain to finish below Indonesia because they can only collect two points in three matches.
Group B and Group C can ‘help’ Indonesia qualify for the last 16 of the 2023 Asian Cup without competing. Syria and Palestine those teams.
If Syria draws against India at Al Bayt Stadium, Al Khor, Qatar, Tuesday (23/1/2024), or Hong Kong can hold Palestine, Indonesia will advance to the last 16 of the 2023 Asian Cup before facing Japan.
Indonesia will be in a pinch if the two duels in Group B and Group C produce winners. Indonesia must at least draw with Japan to lock in a ticket to the last 16 of the 2023 Asian Cup.
Indonesia’s match with Japan will take place, Wednesday (24/1) evening WIB. The match at Al Thumama Stadium, Doha, will kick off at 18.30 WIB.
