KOMPAS.com – Host Thailand crushed Myanmar on the first matchday of the 2023 AFF U23 Cup. Meanwhile, Cambodia won a landslide victory over Brunei.
The 2023 AFF U23 Cup tournament which will be held in Thailand will officially start today, Thursday (17/8/2023).
The first day of the 2023 AFF U23 Cup preliminary round presents the matches from Group A.
Meanwhile, Group A is occupied by Thailand as the host, Cambodia, Myanmar and Brunei.

The 2023 U23 AFF Cup opened with the Cambodia vs Brunei match which was held at the PTT Stadium, Rayong.
Cambodia successfully beat Brunei with a landslide score of 5-0.
Sor Rotana scored two goals for Cambodia, each in the 5th and 50th minutes.
The other three Cambodian goals were scored by the suicide of Jefri Syafiq (9′) and the actions of Meas Chanrith (73′) and Ean Pisey (90′).

In the other match in Group A, Thailand managed to overthrow Myanmar with a score of 3-0.
Three goals for Thailand were recorded by Phodchara Chainarong (21′), Chukid Wanpraphao (32′), and Yotsakorn Burapha (88′).
The results of the 2023 AFF U23 Cup have made Thailand and Cambodia temporarily occupy the top two positions in Group A standings.
Cambodia, which has a superior goal difference, is at the top of the 2023 AFF U23 Cup Group A standings, while Thailand is in second place.
