2023/24 D2 Season: New Format and Exciting Matchups Revealed!

A new D2 season begins in a few days. New from this season, the D1 antechamber will be played with a single pool of twelve teams, unlike previous years, which was played between two pools of twelve teams, divided between the North and the South and during which the first in each group reached the elite.

This change could bring a championship with more suspense for this coming exercise, with teams which should be better prepared for the D1 in-fine, composed of: Lens, Metz, Strasbourg, Le Mans, Orléans, Nantes (redrafted at the expense de Soyaux, demoted by the DNCG, editor’s note), Thonon, Rodez, Montauban, Albi, Marseille and Nice.

First part of the season:

On the first day, Olympique de Marseille will travel to Rodez, which fell to the second division at the end of last season. OGC Nice will host Le Mans, in an unprecedented display in this second division, since the championship has been reduced to a single group. The Racing Club de Lens will face Évian Thonon, and will want to start this new season as well as possible, full of ambition. The northern club hopes to finally reach the elite, just like the men’s in Ligue 1.

From the 3rd day, we will attend the RC Strasbourg – RC Lens meeting, a great meeting in perspective for the supporters of the two clubs.

For the 6th day, we will enjoy the southwest derby between Albi and Montauban, and a derby in the northwest between FC Nantes and Le Mans, which will also be one to watch closely.

A highly anticipated display for supporters in the south of France, the derby between Olympique de Marseille and OGC Nice will be played on the 11th day. The same day we will also be entitled to an FC Metz – Rodez, or the meeting between Orléans and FC Lens among others.

Second part of the season:

This return phase of the championship will begin on February 18, with tempting meetings in prospect, such as the one between OGC Nice and FC Nantes, Strasbourg and Évian Thonon is also to be expected during this 12th day.

The return meeting between Montauban and Albi will be played on the 16th day of the championship, FC Nantes will travel to Le Mans, and a good showing between Rodez and Lens will also be one to watch closely.

RC Lens will travel to the Marseille city during the 18th day of the championship. This same day we will be entitled to the derby between FC Metz and Strasbourg and the Rodez – Albi derby. A day that already promises to be very interesting and exciting! Who will be the two elected this season? Verdict in a few months!
