2023-2024 School Holiday Calendar and Zones: Plan Your Next Year’s Breaks in France

As the school year ends, we must already think about the organization of the 2023-2024 school year. We invite you to consult and download the holiday calendar for the next school year. We indicate the holidays and the dates of return to you. You are also reminded in which zone your academy is located (A, B or C).

To start, you need to know the area in which you are located.

Depending on whether you live in Lille, Toulouse or Bordeaux, the school holiday zone will not be the same. This is important for organizing visits to grandparents or friends, and thus getting together.

The Ministry of National Education specifies the areas:

Zone A
Academies of Besançon, Bordeaux, Clermont-Ferrand, Dijon, Grenoble, Limoges, Lyon, Poitiers

Zone B
Academies of Aix-Marseille, Amiens, Lille, Nancy-Metz, Nantes, Nice, Normandy, Orléans-Tours, Reims, Rennes, Strasbourg

Zone C
Academies of Créteil, Montpellier, Paris, Toulouse, Versailles

In the 1964-1965 school year, metropolitan France was divided into two zones (Group A / Group B). The 1970-1971 school year only included a single zone.
Then, during the years 1980-1981 and 1981-1982, the calendars were set locally by the academic services, hence the existence of numerous zones.
Since 1995, date of the decree of July 24, it is the distribution in three zones of holidays, A, B and C, which applies until today.
