Disney unveiled as the new immersive luxury hotel, Star Wars: Galactic Star Cruiser, set in the Star Wars timeline. The project was announced back in 2017 at D23, and it wasn’t until 2019 that it was revealed that the hotel would be located in the Halcyon spacecraft. Also, on D23 2019 it was stated that the hotel would be a 2 night stay onboard the ship. The resort is close to Hollywood Studios, which accompanies the park’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge themed area, set on the planet Batuu.
A tweet from Disney-Parks shows a video showing that the Halcyon spacecraft timeline is between the events of Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, just like Galaxy’s Edge at Hollywood Studios. The resort offers many immersive interactions, including multiple storylines, the option to join the Resistance or the First Order, and character interactions from the films. The resort’s hope is that guests will find their own way and interact with aspects of Star Wars that they are particularly drawn to. This self-paced exploration will be used to increase the level of immersion that the resort can achieve in a time frame of just 2 nights.

The video goes on to mention that the Halcyon’s adventures and lore can be further explored by fans in his comic miniseries Halcyon Legacy or the recently released young adult novel Star Wars: The High Republic: Mission to Disaster. It’s clear that the biggest focus of this resort/attraction is to immerse fans in a near-ubiquitous Star Wars experience. The entire conversation from the video is from the perspective of the Halcyon being a real starship making a stop on Batuu and recently restored to its former glory of the ship’s early misadventures. Star Wars fans should be happy to see that so much care has gone into it Galactic Star Cruiser to help them fully immerse themselves in the world of the popular franchise.
