2022 USA MotoGP Qualifying Results: Jorge Martin’s Pole

Ducati dominate 2022 USA MotoGP Qualification. Satellite team racer Pramac Jorge Martin managed to take pole position.

In the Q1 session which was held at the Circuit of The Americas, Sunday (10/4/2022) early in the morning, the winner of the Argentine series and the top of the MotoGP standings Aleix Espargaro bad luck.

In the remaining three minutes of the session, the Aprilia rider fell on turn 8 and had to stop qualifying early. As a result, he is only in 13th position when starting tomorrow.

Not only Aleix, his teammate Maverick Vinales also failed to advance to Q2 because he was only in 14th position. In this session, Jorge Martin from Pramac Ducati was the fastest to qualify for Q2 with Suzuki rider Alex Rins.

When Q2 started, Ducati immediately stepped on the gas by placing the Jack Miller, Franceso Bagnaiaand Martin in the top three. Fabio Quartararo try to beat the time of his three competitors on the first try.

Unfortunately for the world champion, the bike crashed at Turn 19 and rushed to the Yamaha paddock to change bikes. When he fell Quartararo was in seventh position.

As soon as he arrived at the paddock, Quartararo got on his motorbike to improve his time. Not only Quartararo, Enea Bastianini also fell before getting up again to continue the qualifying session.

In the remaining two minutes, Bagnaia temporarily took pole position with a record of 2 minutes 2.167 seconds. Miller then managed to overtake his teammate with 2 minutes 2.042 seconds.

However, Jorge Martin poked into pole position late in qualifying by 2 minutes 2.039 seconds, 0.003 seconds ahead!. Ducati dominated this qualifying as two other riders, Johann Zarco and Bastianini, were also in the top five.

Quartararo finally had to settle for starting from sixth position followed by Alex Rins, Joan Mir, Marc Marquez, and Takaaki Nakagami. Marquez failed to take pole for the first time in Austin.
