2022 Cigarette Tariffs Officially Rise, Here Are The Price Details

Cigarette prices officially increase starting January 1, 2022, after the Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani raise tobacco product excise rate (CHT) an average of 12 percent this year.

The increase refers to the Minister of Finance Regulation (PMK) Number 192/PMK.010/21 concerning Excise Tariffs for Tobacco Products in the Form of Cigarettes, Cigars, Leaf Cigarettes or Klobot, and Tobacco Slices.

In addition to cigarettes, Sri Mulyani also raised excise rates and the lowest retail selling price (HJE) of e-cigarettes. The increase occurred in all types such as solid e-cigarettes, open-system liquid e-cigarettes, and closed-system liquid e-cigarettes.

Excise duty on HPTL products such as chewing tobacco, molasses tobacco, and inhaled tobacco also increased. Ani, as she is familiarly called, set the lowest selling price for solid e-cigarettes at Rp5,190 per gram with an excise duty of Rp2,710 per gram.

Then, open system liquid e-cigarettes are sold at a minimum price of IDR 785 with an excise duty of IDR 445 per milliliter. In contrast, closed system liquid e-cigarettes are sold starting at Rp. 35,250 per cartridge with an excise rate of Rp. 6,030 per milliliter.

Meanwhile, other tobacco products such as chewing tobacco, molasses, and inhaled are sold at the lowest retail price of IDR 215 with an excise rate of IDR 120 per gram.

Machine White Cigarette

Excise rate: IDR 1,065 (up from IDR 935)

HJE per stick: IDR 2,005 (up from IDR 1,790)

2. White Cigarette Machine class II

Excise rate: IDR 635 (up from IDR 555)

HJE per stem: Rp1.135 (up from Rp1.015)

Hand Kretek Cigarettes

1. Cigarette Kretek Tangan group I

Excise rate: IDR 345 (up from IDR 330)

HJE per stem: Rp1.135 (up from Rp1.015)

2. Class II hand-rolled kretek cigarettes

Excise rate: IDR 205 (up from IDR 200)

HJE per stick: IDR 600 (up from IDR 535)

3. Class III hand-rolled kretek cigarettes

Excise rate: IDR 115 (up from IDR 110)

HJE per stick: IDR 505 (up from IDR 450)

Filter Hand Clove Cigarettes

Excise rate: IDR 985 (up from IDR 865)

HJE per stem: Rp1,905 (up from Rp1,700)

Tobacco Iris

Excise rate: IDR 10 (not increased)
