Fight against the COVID-19 virus in Guyana
Adjustment of the measures in force.

The news
– Tourist area :
As a reminder, only accommodation in tourist carbets is authorized, within the framework of activities organized by tourism professionals and on compliance with a strict health protocol validated by the competent authorities.
In order to allow these professionals to continue their activity as well as possible, circuits or services starting before the Saturday curfew and ending at the end of the day on Sunday are authorized.
The reservation document will serve as proof of travel, to be presented to the police, for customers when returning home on Sunday.
– Guyana Zoo :
The future well-being of the animals of the Guyana zoo being directly impacted by the activity of the structure and in order not to endanger the life of the animals, it has been decided that visits will be authorized on Sundays by reservation only from 9 a.m. at 5 p.m. and subject to compliance with the required sanitary protocol.
Customers must present a QR code sent by the structure as proof of travel to the police.
– The restaurants :
Uminimum distance of two meters is guaranteed between the chairs occupied by each person, unless a fixed or removable wall provides physical separation. This distance rule does not apply to groups, within the limit of six people, coming together or having booked together.
Other measures in force
– Sports :
As a reminder, establishments intended for the practice of physical or sports activities can accommodate the public, under the following conditions:
- Limitation of 1 person for 8 m² of surface and respect for a physical distance of 2 meters between people, except when by its very nature, the activity does not allow it.
- Wearing a mask within the establishment except during high intensity physical exertion.
- Holding of sports competitions behind closed doors.
- Compliance with health protocols implemented by sports federations.
- Use of collective changing rooms prohibited.
Combat sports and team sports can be practiced, in training sessions and for competitive meetings, if they are supervised by a trainer, a qualified facilitator or a qualified educator, and subject to compliance with a health protocol adapted and validated by the competent authorities.
The practice of individual sports is authorized in training and in competition.
To date, of the 31 leagues and committees represented in Guyana, 24 have submitted their sanitary protocol in order to continue their activities.

The Prefect and the General Director of the ARSRegional Health Agency are open to any request from players in the sporting, associative, cultural or other milieu to jointly define the potential but controlled openings of the various activities.
The priority of the authorities is to continue to protect Guyanese men and women, while limiting gatherings, activities and all initiatives that do not respect barrier gestures and therefore contribute to the spread of the virus throughout the territory.
