The book by Boba Fett continues the story of Boba Fett and begins a series of momentous flashbacks to the war of stars Precursor. The Disney + series is the latest appearance of the fan-favorite mercenary in both real and chronological terms. Boba Fett was a little villain in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, with his imposing demeanor, his iconic armor and Legends– Era non-film footage that elevates him to his beloved status. Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones gave Fett a definitive backstory, replacing his aura of mystery with that of tragedy and fascinating Mandalorian heritage. Despite relatively little screen time and a few lines of dialogue in the war of stars Boba Fett’s original trilogy left a lasting impression on viewers. Framed as the smartest and most brutal bounty hunter hired by Darth Vader, Fett established himself as a character who must have a fascinating story outside of the movies. Legends Material showed Fett as the galaxy’s greatest bounty hunter who more than lives up to his reputation, but the ancient continuity has humanized him too, especially afterwards Attack of the clones betrayed his origin. A bounty hunter and son of the great Mandalorian warrior Jango Fett, Boba Fett honored his father’s legacy as both a mercenary and a later Mandalor (Mandalorian leader).
The post-2014 canon timeline shows a similar Boba Fett, albeit with one important change. Fett is not so interested in honoring Jango Fett’s Mandalorian past as he is in honoring Jango as a man. Boba Fett wears his father’s armor and lives up to his father’s reputation, but as shown in The Mandalorians Season 2 is fat apathetic about his status as “true“Mandalorian, wearing his father’s armor out of respect for him. Instead of gradually ascending the Mandalorian hierarchy as he did in Legends, Boba Fett of the Canon Timeline commands the remnants of the criminal empire of Jabba the Hutt and transforms from the greatest bounty hunter in the galaxy into an aspiring crime lord, albeit one who rules very differently than Jabba.
The book by Boba Fett starts with fat healing from his injuries caused by Sarlacc in a bacta tank. In his loneliness Fett dreams of Tipoca City on Kamino, the gladiator arena on Geonosis and the belly of the Sarlacc in the Great Pit of Carkoon in the sea of dunes. The Kamino flashback is not tied to a specific moment in Attack of the clonesbut more of an established look at the city Boba Fett grew up in. The flashback of Geonosis shows a certain moment Attack of the clones, however, shows a young Boba Fett sadly holding Jango Fett’s helmet, marking the beginning of his journey to become a bounty hunter and later crime boss. While the original scene was near the timeframe of Return of the Jedi will surely delight fans who are interested in seeing the canonical version of Boba Fett’s Sarlacc Escape, the flashbacks from the prequel era mostly associate the series with its origins.
The book by Boba Fett is the first instance of Boba Fett starring outside the print media in either Canon or Legends. Of course, the show emphasizes Boba’s previous cinematic appearances, starting from his humble beginnings on Kamino. Jango Fett was from the Mandalorian world of Concord Dawn, but Boba Fett, an unchanged clone Jango raised as a son, was born and raised on Kamino. He lived in Tipoca City with his father who provided his DNA for the Republic Clone Army to the Kaminoans. During his healing session, Boba Fett likely thought of Kamino and recalled a simpler time in his life where he lived happily with his father, who trained Boba in fight and pursuit from a young age. As shown in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Jango’s education made Boba Fett a skilled fighter and a blast with a blaster as a child.
Boba’s next dream, a flashback to Jango Fett’s death on Geonosis, marks the point where Boba Fett’s childhood essentially ended. With his only guardian dead, Fett was alone in a dangerous galaxy. The Clone Wars shows that Fett worked quickly to team up with his father’s associates like Bossk and Aurra Sing in an attempt to avenge Jango by killing Jedi Master Mace Windu (an unsuccessful endeavor). Even so, this moment weighs heavily on Boba, even into adulthood, as he honors his father by wearing his armor and becoming a famous bounty hunter, even though Boba chose to become a criminal leader instead of going the Mandalorian route. Fett traveled from the Outer Rim to the Deep Core to retrieve Jango Fett’s armor The Mandalorians, motivated by what his father’s armor stood for, as well as its usefulness in battle.
The Mandalorians is characterized in particular by numerous recognitions of the war of stars Prequel trilogy, from Easter Eggs to prequel-era characters making their live-action debut. The book by Boba Fett, which begins with flashbacks from the prequel era, continues this practice by not burying the often derided prequel films but by embracing their best aspects. If not for Attack of the clones and non-Canon and non-footage Legends‘Boba Fett would have remained a one-dimensional character, a bounty hunter with little personality aside from his threatening behavior in the original trilogy.

Fett’s upbringing on Kamino through Jango Fett and the trauma of witnessing his father’s death as a child are key to Boba’s behavior and style of rule. In addition to honoring his father by wearing his armor, Fett tries to rule his newfound criminal empire with respect rather than fear, building on Boba’s characterization in. on The Mandalorians, and Hondo Ohnaka’s description of Jango Fett in The Clone Wars. the war of stars Prequel flashbacks suggest that The book by Boba Fett will make tasteful use of all of Boba Fett’s appearances on the Canon timeline.
