Tim Cook assures him: 2020 has been the best year for innovation at Apple. He believes in an interview with a Peking University student that Apple was in top form last year.
2020, year of innovation for Apple
Different Apple products have emerged in 2020 and those that can mostly evoke innovation are the Macs with the Apple M1 chip. The transition from Intel to Apple Silicon (ARM) has resulted in excellent performance and Macs that consume less power, while being silent. Apple also released its iPhone 12, Apple Watch Series 6, new iPads, and other products. However, it is difficult to speak of innovation here.
“What we do is that we have a culture of creativity and a culture of collaboration”, explains Tim Cook about Apple’s innovation in 2020. “These two things together, when they intersect, create enormous innovation. You put together people who have different skills, who see the world differently, and who maybe come from different places and have different backgrounds ”, he added. He keeps on : “You put them all together for a common goal, that of designing an incredible product, and it’s amazing what can come of it”.
Tim Cook also believes that the performance of the Mac M1 is ” breathtaking “. He judges that “It’s so fast”. As a reminder, the benchmarks show that a MacBook Air M1 is more efficient than a 16-inch MacBook Pro with an Intel Core i9 processor.
In the rest of the interview, the student asked Tim Cook if Apple had been inspired by certain Chinese user requests for its products. The boss of Apple replied that it was indeed the case. Dark mode is an example. He also spoke about the QR Code reader, a specific keyboard and support for 5G.
