Here is a quick recap of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris speeches:
In his victory speech, Biden promised to unite the country and not to divide it any further. The US Democrat described his victory in the presidential election as “clear” and “convincing”. “I promise to be a president who does not want to divide, but to unite. “ It is the time to heal. The former Vice President called for a new political togetherness. Political opponents are not “enemies”: “They are Americans.”
77-year-old Biden has appealed to incumbent Donald Trump’s supporters to give him a chance to work together for a better America. He was elected a Democrat, but he will be the president of the whole country and “work just as hard for those who didn’t vote for me,” Biden promised. “It is time to put the harsh rhetoric aside,” demanded Biden. “Let’s give each other a chance”, he said. “We have to stop seeing our opponents as enemies,” said Biden. For him there are no democratic or republican states, but only the “United States”, stressed Biden. It is noteworthy that Biden made no mention of Donald Trump in his entire speech.
Biden announced the formation of a group of experts in the fight against the corona pandemic for Monday. “Our work will begin with bringing Covid under control.”
American voters have turned the world around in the United States, according to US-elected Vice President Kamala Harris. “When our democracy itself was on the ballot paper, the soul of America was at stake and the world was watching, you ushered in a new day for America”said Harris at her victory speech in Wilmington, Delaware. By choosing Joe Biden, Americans chose Hope, Unity, Science and Truth, Harris said. The elected president is a “Healer”, someone who could America one.
Biden is due to be sworn in as the 46th President in US history on January 20.
