2020 ranking of high schools in Seine-Saint-Denis: discover our ranking

While in the second degree, the teachers of Seine-Saint-Denis are worried about the repercussions that the confinement linked to Covid-19 will have on the success of their students, our ranking will perhaps give them a little balm in the heart .

As every year, Le Parisien has produced a list of the best high schools in the department and in France from figures published this Wednesday by the Ministry of National Education. Rather than focusing only on the success rate in the bac or the mentions obtained, we once again calculated the added value of each high school by comparing the difference between the expected success rate in the bac (according to academic and socio-professional characteristics of students) and the actual rate. Ditto for the mentions and the access rate from the second to the baccalaureate.

“This classification is good because the students of 93 are often stigmatized”

As last year, the Alfred-Nobel high school in Clichy-sous-Bois is in the top 3 departmental, even taking – with 58 points on the clock – once again the head of our national ranking of public establishments. A prize list where Seine-Saint-Denis is also the big winner. Of the top 10, nine high schools are located in our department!

At Nobel, 83% of students thus obtained their baccalaureate in 2019 against an expected rate of 69%, or 14 points more. 36% had a mention, against 14% expected: 22 points more. And 85% of second students have reached the terminal against 63% expected: 22 points more. “This kind of classification is good, because the pupils of Seine-Saint-Denis are often stigmatized by the mere fact of living in the department”, appreciates Anne Pieter, co-president of the federation of parents of FCPE 93 pupils.

At departmental level, 57 high schools out of 63 thus show an added value. In our local top 10, there are four private establishments: the Saint-Germain high school in Drancy (2 nd place), Alliance aux Pavillons-sous-Bois (3 rd), Sainte-Marie in Stains (4 th) and Saint-Benoist -de-l’Europe in Bagnolet (6 th). In the public, Louise-Michel in Bobigny arrives in 5 th place and Eugène-Delacroix in Drancy in 7 th.

“I have always known a high level of demand”

Without denying the shortcomings recognized – at the highest level of the State – in the field of education on Seine-Saint-Denis, this ranking also shows a reality that the turnover of teachers tends to eclipse. “In many establishments, there is still a hard core of teachers who remain, who know their city, their students,” said Radouane M’Hamdi, departmental secretary of the National Union of National Education Management Staff.

Cohesion is undoubtedly what explains the success of the young people at Lycée Louise-Michel in Bobigny. “I have been working here for several years, and I have always known a close-knit team, a school life service that listens to teachers, and a high level of demand for the attendance of students and teachers”, underlines a professor, who is worried all the same for the results of the bac 2020… if it takes place.
