If we take the average of the temperatures recorded by Météo France Tours during each day and night of 2020, we see that they were well above the expected norms: on average, last year it was 13.7 degrees at Tours. It is 1.9 degrees above normal. The previous record, dating from 2018, is broken by three tenths of a degree. With the exception of June and October, all months were warmer than normal. In February and April, it was even almost four degrees warmer than expected, it’s huge.
The head of the Météo France center in Tours, Pierre Bonnin, specifies that “the environment and the atmosphere are warming up, there is hardly any doubt about it. The seven hottest years are all in the decade 2011-2020“.
A lot of sun
2020 was also the sixth sunniest year with nearly 2,100 hours of sunshine: 260 more than normal. It’s always good for morale, especially since the months of the first confinement were among those where the sun was particularly present.

Finally, to remember: rainfall, with a completely normal annual rainfall despite a particularly dry summer. 75 millimeters of rain fell between June 20 and September 20 when we could expect twice as much.
