Honda vehicles are synonymous with reliability. Along with Toyota products, this Japanese automaker has earned customer confidence for decades by producing hassle-free models. However, as it turned out, not all Hondas are equally “indestructible”.
According to a study conducted by the service “Car Complains”, there is one model in the Honda crossover lineup that should be avoided. This is the third generation Honda Pilot (2016 release).
For many technical problems, the car was awarded the victory in the nomination “Beware of this car“. In addition, this large “SUV” was the only Honda model included in the list of American analysts “Consumer Reports» in category «Used cars you shouldn’t buy».
Pilot’s rating turned out to be much worse than the average for the segment, as evidenced by the huge number of negative reviews from its owners.
According to reports from both services, the 2016 Pilot suffers from a variety of problems, including failure of the engine, electrical and fuel system.
At least three hundred owners of such “SUVs” during their operation encountered an unpleasant breakdown of the Start / Stop system, which turns off the engine idling during stops to save fuel, but then does not restart the engine.
It is noteworthy, but the 2017 and 2018 crossovers collected much less negative feedback from the owners.
For example, in the last model year, NHTSA received 53 complaints of electrical problems. But even this figure was nine times lower than with the ill-fated Pilot, which went on sale in 2016.
