TASS, November 3. The Spanish defender of Barcelona, 2010 FIFA world champion, Gerard Piqué has decided to retire from football. Pique announced it on Thursday on his Twitter page.
“Now that my childhood dreams have come true, I want to say it’s time to close that circle. I have always said that after Barcelona I will not have another team. This Saturday will be my last match at Camp Nou, “said Piqué.
Barcelona will host Almeria in the Spanish Liga on Saturday.
Piqué is 35 years old, graduated from Barcelona and has been playing for the Catalan club since 2008. Previously, the defender played for English “Manchester United” and Spanish “Zaragoza”. As part of Barcelona, Piqué won the Champions League three times, the UEFA Super Cup, the Club World Cup, became the Spanish champion eight times and won the Spanish Cup seven times. He has won the Champions League and the Premier League with Manchester United.
Piqué made 102 appearances for Spain and scored five goals. He is the 2010 world champion and the 2012 European championship winner.
