“2006 HV5 asteroid approaching Earth at distance 2.4 million km, says Keldysh Institute of Applied Mathematics”

In the statement made by the Telegram channel of the Keldysh Institute of Applied Mathematics on the roof of the Russian Academy of Sciences, “One of the most interesting asteroids this month to orbit close to Earth is 2006 HV5, approaching us at a distance of 2.4 million km (6.3 times farther than the Moon) on April 26.” statements were included.

The statement also emphasized that the radar in California determined the dimensions and rotation period of the space object, and also confirmed its spherical shape.

Noting that the astrometry of the celestial body will make it possible to determine its orbit, the scientists stated that according to the data, the next similar approach of the asteroid to the Earth is expected in April 2081.
