Amsterdam more expensive than London, Utrecht more expensive than Berlin
The researchers also looked beyond the border. This shows that Dutch cities are among the most expensive in Europe in terms of free rental sector prices. For 1000 euros, an Amsterdammer rents an average of 44 square meters. Only Paris and Copenhagen are more expensive.
Utrecht, The Hague and Rotterdam are also in Colliers’ list in the top 10 most expensive European cities, just behind London and Munich. But still well ahead of European capitals such as Madrid, Rome and Berlin.
In the three Dutch cities, a tenant can get between 65 and 75 square meters for 1000 euros. In Berlin, a rent of 1000 euros provides on average a house that is 20 square meters larger.
