$ 20,000 for the benefit of the Baie-Saint-Paul Hospital Foundation thanks to the “La Santé, ça Marche” activity

The organizer of the “La Santé, ça Marche” activity, Maurice Lavoie, revealed with emotion that he had succeeded in raising $ 20,000 for the benefit of the Baie-Saint-Paul Hospital Foundation.

“It was important for me to give back to the Baie-Saint-Paul Hospital Foundation since it was the doctors and their team who saved me and supported me when I had cancer. This amount was raised with the heart and I take this opportunity to thank the entire Foundation team who helped me. We have seen that for each problem, we can find a solution. The activity has been adapted several times according to the measures required by the pandemic. I also thank Dr Jean-Denis Paquet. I feel like his student, he taught me a lot, ”comments Maurice Lavoie.

About a hundred walkers took part in the challenge and made donations. This amount will help finance the project to integrate an intermediate ultrasound machine at the Baie-Saint-Paul Hospital. The device was recently installed in the operating room in order to obtain diagnostic images and facilitate procedures.

The Baie-Saint-Paul Hospital Foundation funded the device 100%, which represents an investment of $ 80,000. This new tool is of great benefit to anesthesiologists, surgeons and internists. Its mobility allows its movement in several sectors of activity. It could help maintain a local service offer for patients and their families.

The Foundation thanks Maurice Lavoie for his 11 years of involvement. His daring, his great will and his passion were underlined in addition to his great ability to mobilize the community for the development of health care and the well-being of the Charlevoix population.

The organizer Maurice Lavoie is accompanied by Valérie Lavoie, head of surgical services, specialized services, outpatient care, respiratory therapy and hemodialysis unit and project manager within the CIUSSS de la Capitale-Nationale team.
