The Senate adopted Thursday, March 18 in first reading the controversial bill on “global security”. Renamed “for a new security pact respectful of freedoms”, the law has been reworked, in particular with the addition of an offense of provocation to the identification of police officers.
At the call of several unions and organizations (Amnesty International, Attac, the association Palestine solidarités, Cité jaune Angers, the CGT, FO, FSU, Solidaires, the local sections of the National High School Union and the National Union of students from France and the Human Rights League), 200 people demonstrated this Saturday afternoon in Angers to, once again, demand its withdrawal.
« This law responds to a liberticidal logic which weakens the possibilities of expression of the population and restricts freedoms and rights. “, Say the organizers.
After speaking at Place du Ralliement, a procession formed to take Boulevard Foch, Boulevard du Roi René, Rue des Lices, before returning to Place du Ralliement. A demonstration which was placed under high surveillance with a squadron of gendarmerie which blocked access to the prefecture and a reinforced police presence in the hyper-center.
