He is appearing from the detention center where he is imprisoned, until July 2022, for a conviction which dates from 2019. A 21-year-old young man had to explain himself by videoconference this Wednesday, May 18, 2022 before the judicial court of Chartres (Eure-et-Loir) for use of narcotics and possession of a weapon when a previous court decision prohibited him from doing so.
The facts date back to December 3, 2021 and take place on Avenue de la Resistance, in Mainvilliers. The police carry out identity checks. The defendant, born in Mans (Sarthe), is caught “rolling a homemade cigarette”, reports the judge, with herbal cannabis.
Released for possessing a weapon
The police conducted a pat-down and found a knife Opinel type in his pocket. He explained to the court: “a lady had found a knife in her stroller, she didn’t want to keep it, I took it with me”. The public prosecutor asks the court not to condemn him for this count since his ban on possessing a weapon would not concern this type of knife.
His cannabis use
Regarding drugs, the young man, who wants to become a plumber, says he started smoking two or three years ago and no longer uses cannabis in prison.
He was sentenced to €200 fine for the use of narcotics and released for possession of a weapon.
