Mexico City. Today, 200 Cuban doctors arrived in the country to join the team of specialists working in IMSS Bienestar hospitals in 19 states of the Republic, reported the island’s ambassador to Mexico, Marcos Rodríguez Costa.
In a message via social media X, the diplomat indicated that the health professionals arrived at the Felipe Ángeles International Airport.
He also noted that “mutual cooperation for the benefit of both peoples, humanism and solidarity are precepts that guide us.”
A few days ago, Zoé Robledo, director of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), reported on the arrival of the specialists, as part of the collaboration agreement with Cuba ratified last May.
Currently, 1,200 Cuban doctors are working in the different IMSS-Bienestar hospitals and another 3,800 will arrive to fill all the vacant positions in the comprehensive rural community hospitals that were built during previous governments, when Seguro Popular was in effect, but which did not provide the services for which they were planned due to a lack of equipment and specialists.
