Sharm el-Sheikh: In a joint statement, 200 major companies are calling on countries around the world to meet their climate targets. Governments must continue efforts to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees, said the statement, signed by companies including Ikea, Microsoft, Nestle, Unilever and Bayer. 1.5 degrees should not be seen as a target, but as a limit for a world worth living in, former Irish President Robinson said at the world climate summit in Egypt. According to her, the companies’ appeal is addressed in particular to the G20, which will meet in Bali next week. However, the signatories also include companies that are controversial due to their negative environmental balance sheets.
