20-year record: Over 7 million tons of wheat were harvested this summer in Bulgaria

Whoever talks about betlet, let one come and reap all day with us, commented a grain producer

More than 7,000,000 tons of wheat were harvested this summer in Bulgaria, which is the largest amount in recent years. According to the branch organization of grain producers, for at least two decades the market statistics have not registered such a high average yield at such a high purchase price of grain, BNR reported.

Over 560 kilograms per decare is the average yield for the whole country this year, which is 150 kilograms more than the harvest in 2020.

“At 12 million decares of wheat, a record harvest is coming out in the country – over 7 million tons,” said producer Iliya Prodanov.

Grain is a commodity and this year it is sold at good prices.

“But this does not mean that we will make profits, because inflation hits a lot, both in the price of goods and in the price of detergents and fuels,” Prodanov said.

He did not fail to comment on the publications that the good harvest will allow the grain producers to renew the luxury car fleet, with which they have been associated for years after their conflict with a former finance minister.

“I’m ready with anyone who thinks in that direction to come with me one day and reap all day with me. There’s no problem then driving a Bentley anymore.”
