The incidents are said to have taken place on the night of 5 June. Two days later, the man was remanded in custody for four weeks, charged with three counts of attempted rape, writes Avisa Oslo. On Friday, he had his custody extended by another four weeks in Oslo District Court.
The police believe that the man intended to rape the four women, but that he did not succeed.
After the first custody, the police received another report, which they link to the three other reported assaults.
The reason why the police suspect the 20-year-old of being behind all the cases is the common denominator between the incidents. The police believe that the man allegedly assaulted and raped the women while they were on their way into the apartment buildings they live in.
– We are investigating the case broadly, but believe there is no basis for saying that we are looking for another perpetrator, police lawyer Hilde Strand told the newspaper.
The police state that the charge for one of the conditions is somewhat weakened. During Friday’s prison meeting, it emerged that the man has been formally charged with two of the cases and that he is being investigated as a suspect for the other two reported cases.
The 20-year-old has in interrogation confessed to some of the conditions he is charged with.
