20-year-old Mercedes driver’s alcohol-fueled crash in Zell am Main witnessed by off-duty police officer

On Sunday morning, a 20-year-old Mercedes driver left the road at the intersection with the Laurentiusbrücke on State Road 2300 in the Zell am Main area and fell about seven meters.

The vehicle, coming from the Zeller Bock, lost control and drove straight across the opposite lane into a grass verge.

The grass verge was at the bridgehead, which is why the car crashed and came to a stop on the Main floodplain after rolling over.

The accident happened to be witnessed by an off-duty police officer. They reacted immediately and initiated rescue measures.

The driver and passenger were drunk. After a breath check, the 20-year-old had a blood alcohol level of 1.7.

Both had to be treated in a hospital for injuries. The driver now has to expect a driving ban and the car had to be towed away with severe damage.
