“Despite the humiliating losses of the landing craft Saratov and the cruiser Moskva, Russia’s Black Sea Fleet retains the capability to strike Ukrainian and coastal targets,” the British Ministry of Defence said.
The intelligence update comes after British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace claimed the Kremlin had suffered heavy losses since launching its invasion of Ukraine on February 24.
Russia’s attempt to conquer Ukraine, which Vladimir Putin described as a “special military operation”, has left 15,000 soldiers dead.
Wallace said that 2,000 Russian armored vehicles had been destroyed or captured, including 530 tanks and more than 60 Russian helicopters and fighter jets had been lost.
